Wot We Wukkers Want:
In November 1977 Steve McCaffery had the pleasure of spending a few days at Robert's Creek, B.C. with Allan Eaprov and Robert Filliou. Among a true of conversations the subject of language, politics and translation came up and crystallized around the true of the language of Karl H. How can escape the paradox of Marxias tone of a critique of the bourgeoisie couched within the most shameful bourgeois language? Robert mentioned an aborted project conceived with fellow fluxian George Brecht to translate THE COMMIST MANIFESTO inte patole as the prototype of a world wide translation of Marx into the "language of workers" (a kind of dialect materiali). In a show of typical gallic mischief Tilliou proposed the translation inte McCaffery's ative dialect: the West Riding of Yorkshire. The results of that challenge constitute VOT VE VUIKERS KART: the first realized prototype of this world project.  

Shaving later that day Metaffery mentioned a point crucial to a full understand- ing of this translation: "Until looking into the sirrer just now, Robert, I'd never met a Marxist with a sense of humour.”

This translation is dedicated entirely to Messrs. Robert Filliou and Lege Frecht.

Composition 1973. A nostalgic retrospect to the Dadaphony of all, Hausmann and Schwitters.

A sound realisation of McCaffery's translation of George Brecht's translation of the CLOSING section of Robert Filliou's naughty 14 CHANSONS ET 1 CHANA This is a translation according to principles developed by McCaffery to transfer a text by means of numerical replacement in

which all letters that signify Latin numerals are replaced by their pronounced and line-totalized numerical value.


One Step to the Next:
Is the co-creation of Clive Robertson, and produced in Calgary, December 1977. It fuses chance and technological mischief in a manipulation of a National Geographic soft record of the Apollo Space Flights. A series of warps, discovered in the disc, are manipulated, mixed and rechanelled to produce mantric-merz documentary and bricolage as a phonic metastatement on the treated text.


Emes 1:
Composed March 1979. A phrase is intercepted, reversed, synthesized and obsessively repeated as a stolen micro-unit. It represents McCaffery's first theft from himself.
